7. Woakes saves England 

A post World Cup winning England team looked like they hadn’t recovered from the celebrations when they got out for only 85 in the 1st innings, but heroic spell from Woakes saved the champions from a Test loss against Ireland as he took 6 wickets in a thrashing where Ireland got out for only 38 in the 2nd innings.

6. King Kohli reigns supreme

Virat Kohli played an incredible inning of 254 with a strike rate of 75.6 to set up a massive total in the 2nd test of South Africa’s tour of India. India set up a total of 601, after which they won by an innings and 137 runs, racking up pivotal points in the ICC Test Championship.

5. Amir fights alone against the Aussies 

Mohammad Amir showed why he’s one of the World Class pacers in the world in his 5-wicket haul against the Aussies in the World Cup group stage. His spell included 2 maidens with an economy of 3.00 which was extravagant when we look at how the other bowlers played.

Undoubtedly the best individual performance of this year came when Ben Stokes performed superbly with both the bat and the ball in an incredible 1 wicket win to keep England’s Ashes hopes alive in the 3rd Test.  He took 4 wickets, but his 135 in the second innings was one of the best and most composed Test innings we’ve seen under pressure.
